Hwange National Park

Where Giants Roam

Zimbabwe

On a visit to Hwange National Park, prepare to be overwhelmed in the best way possible. Everything about the largest National Park in Zimbabwe is on an immense scale, from the wide starry skies at night to the enormous herds of elephants that traverse its broad expanse. The park was once the royal hunting ground for Mzilikazi, the Ndebele warrior-king, and became a National Park in 1929. It’s a land of contrasts; with distinctive seasons and varied landscapes, offering a breathtaking array of safari experiences that will have you returning time and time again.

Hwange is most often associated with elephants. It’s home to one of the biggest herds in Africa, but the range of other wildlife within the park is truly spectacular. You catch a glimpse of the ‘big five’,  and also the population of endangered African wild dogs is one of the largest on the continent and over 400 species of bird have been recorded. With our personal knowledge of Hwange, it’s lodges, seasons and landscapes, Hekaya can tailor the perfect African Safari for you in this magical place.
