The pink fireball of the sun sinks over Lake Kariba’s horizon, silhouetting the dead tree trunks against the bright orange sky. Kariba is the largest man-made dam in the world. Its shorelines stretch for hundreds of kilometres, many of them too remote to access unless by boat.
