The verdant rolling hills that Kigali is spread across have been witness to a city transforming itself over the last 20 years. The streets are unbelievably clean, the people are warm and friendly and the getting around the city is easy. 

This is an optimistic city that has taken control of its own narrative and is determined to make it a positive one. Yet it’s not forgetting its past, which can be acknowledged and remembered at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. This is one of the most important places to visit in Rwanda – a place that truly puts into context the history of the country.
