Overview
You begin your journey with a refreshing overnight stay in Kigali, before departing the following day for Akagera National Park. Akagera is the last remaining refuge for savannah-adapted species in Rwanda. The park was badly degraded by poachers during the war but thanks to an innovative conservation effort it is now home to the Big Five. Your stay will help continue this vital conservation work.
After 2 nights here you spend another night in Kigali, perhaps unloading your memory cards, relaxing or trying a local restaurant. The next day you depart for then One&Only Nyungwe House on the edge of the iconic Nyungwe National Park. The luxurious hotel and spa offer many delightful opportunities to relax but the highlight here will be chimpanzee trekking as well as the chance to see 12 other species of primate, including the L’Hoest’s monkey. Finally, depart Rwanda with incredible memories of two distinct ecosystems and the warmth of the people who have hosted you.
