Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Atmospheric Forest Teeming with Wildlife

Uganda

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is 321 square kilometres of absolutely exceptional biodiversity that have resulted in it being named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Many endangered and endemic species are sheltered in the reserve including the mountain gorilla. In fact, it is home to almost half of the world’s mountain gorilla population! This is the park’s main attraction and the highly regulated gorilla treks are sure to leave you in awe and truly humbled by these creatures. It is vital to book permits beforehand so contact Hekaya to plan this for you so you will not be disappointed.

Incredibly this biodiversity hotspot is surrounded by highly populated farmland. This adds to the challenge of conserving the area and the importance that the income generated by visitors for this population has in aiding conservation of the gorillas and other species. The park is also a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, 120 mammals, more than 160 species of trees and many species of birds and butterflies. This adds up to it being an incredible and atmospheric place to visit with truly beautiful forest and landscapes with amazing birdlife and animals.
